The Wiseman behind it all:

Is a Wise-woman ;)

W.I.S.E Gym is owned by Danni Wiseman, a BSc (Hons) Strength and Conditioning Coach and competitive "hybrid" bodybuilder, that also partakes in crossfit-style training, powerlifting and Olympic Weightlifting training. Danni has been a Personal Trainer and Fitness instructor, actively working in the industry for over 8 years, helping people from all walks of life achieve their health/fitness goals.

After completing her BSc (Hons) Degree in Sports Strength and Conditioning where she trained competitive athletes from rugby players to martial artists to tennis players, she found an alternative interest in using the principles of strength and conditioning to reverse symptoms in progressive disabling diseases, such as Multiple Sclerosis. With the tremendous success of increasing strength, neural transmission and functional movement ability in MS sufferers (including having one previously wheelchair-bound participant walking with no stick after only 6 weeks of training!). Her interest has expanded into using both Exercise and Nutrition to manage/reverse a number of health conditions (CFS, ME, Fibromyalgia, Sciatica, High Blood Pressure, IBS and Multiple Sclerosis, so far!), hence the "Exercise Medicine" part of the W.I.S.E acronym.

Danni has a team Trainers/Instructors at the gym who are also highly-qualified experts in the field, approachable, and a great laugh! So as a team, we can help any customer who walks through our doors, and make the experience as enjoyable as possible. We must hold our hands up and admit though, we are the least intimidating gym to exist, on the whole planet, ever. :P

The beginning of W.I.S.E Gym, and the story of The Dictionary...

The dictionary on our shelf (you'll see it if you come in!) is a symbol of the humble roots of this business.

After the Garden Gym closed, I started mobile Personal Training, with the few pieces of equipment I had and improvising with some unconventional "equipment" e.g. the dictionary!

It was a challenging time, trying to build a business between lockdowns, outside in rain or shine. I used to say to my clients:

"One day, we will laugh at how we used to have to use a dictionary as equipment!"

Next thing I knew, I was busy enough to be able to look for premises that I could train people from. Then there was a viewing, a strong gut feeling, a jump at an opportunity, a renovation, a lot of fear for taking a risk on everything I had for everything I could have, a lot of meals of potatoes and peas as that is all I could afford when I put everything into the business (😂), then the opening of the doors, the happy faces, the dream come to life before my eyes and so many laughs... at how we used to have to use a dictionary... as equipment.

(The dictionary was also the property of my late grandmother, who is remembered in my logo as well - she would be glad I'm using it... although not for reading!! ðŸ¤£)
